Carry On Victoria started in 1932 to help support the returned servicemen with a range of services that were not available.
The objective of Carry On (Victoria) is to be engaged in the care of ex-Servicemen and ex-Servicewomen and their dependants who are in need of assistance, as defined by the constitution of Carry On.
Carry On has always structured its support services to meet the changing needs of the disadvantaged ex-servicemen/women and their dependants, 83 residential units for the aged are managed by Carry On with no in-going fee required, and the rent is limited to 20% of the residents income. The Units are located on 8 different sites in various parts of Victoria, with 18 in Mildura, 23 on two different locations in Wendouree, 10 in Rosebud, 6 in Reservoir,16 on two locations in Noble Park, and 10 in Norlane. Branches of Carry On have worked with the Executive Board to obtain the sites, construct the units and to manage their on-going operation in matters such as selection of residents, collection of rents, and repairs and maintenance.
Carry On offer Welfare assistance support for disadvantaged ex servicemen and women in the way of bill payments, food and clothing expenses as well as rehabilitation and medical expense costs.
Carry On has scholarship grants available, for both secondary and tertiary students. The Secondary Scholarship Fund gives funding for secondary school books for Children of ex-Servicemen and women.
The Tertiary Scholarship known as the Jim Eilenberg Carry On (Victoria) Memorial Tertiary Education Grant. This grant can be applied for by children of ex-Servicemen and women who are undertaking university studies.
In addition to these services Carry On also provides guidance, advice and friendly support in many other cases where applicants for government and other benefits, are unsure of their entitlements or bewildered by the procedures necessary to obtain what are their rights. In co-operation with other organisations, they have assisted in establishing Veteran Support Centre's in several regions to help co-ordinate and simplify access to the various sources of support that are available.
Carry On also hold luncheons and annual dinners as well as a range of fundraising activities and appeals. These are a great way to catch up with like minded people and to help raise money for a worthy cause.
The Carry On Ladies Auxiliary is also a great place for our ex-Servicewomen to come and have a chat or a day out with like minded people.
